Client Evaluations

I purchased this kit for my two granddaughters, ages five and three. It is rather simple, clean and lots of fun for them. The final product is so cute and they appreciate to play with their home produced bugs! They are raising butterflies from caterpillars, so this fun small project intensified the enjoyment of their present interest in bugs.
Even though the project is straight forward, they do require adult help and supervision. I do not mean that the adult had to do the project though the child watches - the kit has a lot of simple and rewarding tasks that a youngster can do for themselves whilst an adult instructs, but the adult caregiver demands to be completely involved. Count on a small bit of frustration and crying when attempting the 1st project. Our tiny ones skilled a learning curve, but soon after the initially bug was completed, and they felt the satisfaction of getting the final item, the other bugs went much smoother for the reason that they understood the course of action better and had a vision for the completed artwork. It has been a decent patience creating activity - they had to overcome some hurdles, but they experienced success in the finish.
One Significant unfavorable: The GLUE STICK has a number of troubles:
The 1st con is that the adhesive is not strong enough, so the project keeps falling apart even though in process. This could have been a disaster, and the tears had been flowing freely till I got the concept to reinforce their glue jobs with a stapler. THE STAPLER SAVED THE DAY - DO NOT Attempt THIS PROJECT Without having A STAPLER AND A lot OF STAPLES! And liquid school glue will not hurt to have on hand either. When we did the ladybug, the legs were produced of Popsicle sticks which had been also heavy for the glue stick adhesive, and too thick for staples. We glued them with school glue and let it dry overnight.
The second con is that there is only One particular glue stick! If you are working with only one child, this is not a difficulty, but if there are two children, you can expect them to fight over the glue stick. THE GLUE STICK IS Very important, AND IS Necessary FOR Just about every STEP OF THE PROJECT. Just recognize that just before starting the project that you have to have an extra glue stick for every added youngster.
ALSO: I do not advise trying to do this project with alot more than two kids, unless they are unusually gifted, or 1 of them is older than 6 years old OR you have two or a lot more adults to support. Some people today believe this would make a fine party activity, but I say that is asking for trouble unless you have at least one particular adult for every two young children. The projects are straight forward, but an average child needs a lot of support - especially on the first time. You will be in over your head if you try this with alot more than two small young children at a time. The perfect is one on one particular.
This is a excellent and entertaining project if you are ready for the few minor pitfalls. My granddaughters have made all the bugs in this kit and are begging for one other kit. I am organizing to get them the paper bag puppet kit next! Definitely Certainly glad I got this for them.

I purchased these for my 2 y.o. son. There are compact pieces that are choking hazards, but I was in a position to watch him closely. It was rather effortless as they had been in prepackaged bags, so we can decide on which bug we want and open only that bag. In spite of this, because the paper plates are curved (like typical paper plates) at the edges, it is difficult to glue some of the pieces on. We've had a lot of fun doing it, but I am needing to assist a lot, and at times the glue is not robust sufficient so I'm ending up stapling pieces on. They do look good on his walls although, and he's asking to do much more bugs!
