Customer Reviews

This was given as a gift to a 9 year old girl. The quality of Amican Girl crafts are usually very good.

We got this bead set for our daughter and her friend to make some fun bracelets. The wooden beads and circles are decent quality and come in 4 pretty colors. However, there are some issues with the instructions as well as putting together the bracelets:
1. The instructions say to cut a 33" piece of cord. If you do this, you will likely end up with 3 circles instead of 4 as shown in all the pictures. That is fine as the bracelets seem to fit fine with just 3.
2. The 3rd step says to tied a knot about 1/2 inch from the end. If you do this, you will NOT be able to use the larger bead at the end as the instructions say. We had to use the smaller bead as that was only one that would fit. If you want to use the larger bead, use 3/4" from end.
3. The instructions should show kids how to tied the so-called double knots between the beads and circles.
4. Lastly, it is quite difficult to get both ends of the cord through a bead. If you use scissors to cut the end of the cord, it will likely fray at the end making it even harder getting through the bead. We had to use toothpicks to push the ends through.
Once you've gotten through the deficiencies of the instructions, you will have a very nice finished product that your daughter (maybe son) will enjoy. We even made a nice necklace out of the pieces.
