I bought this as a goof, because I knit. The night I got it I opened it, grabbed some yarn and started to read. Within an hour I had made samples of all three of the basic stitches. I've tried to crochet before and got really frustrated and quit, and this book didn't make me do that.
My only complaint is that the photos are black and white. Well black, white and a pink color. Its a little annoying, but that's just me.
If you want to lean Crochet, this book is a must get! And it comes with the hooks!
I taught myself to crochet in a matter of hours and now I can do some very complicated patterns all using this wonderful book. I highly recommend it as a starting point.
