Unlike all our other similar Melissa and Doug kits...this one is for kids OVER 8. The paint is a more dodgy acrylic of some kind and is a disaster for 4-6 year olds. I didn't read the age guide on-line. This is one of their only figurine painting kits that is not recommended for kids under 8....kinda silly since so many young kids are in to dinosaurs.

My kids are 3 and 6 and absolutely love painting everything. We did dinosaur themed crafts for a week this summer and I wanted something I could use to get a break from coming up with my own crafts. I did notice the package said over age 8 but my 3 year old did fine. She went to town painting it as she has many other ceramics. The dinosaurs were a little smaller than I thought they would be but the kids were excited when they saw the packages and it didn't phase them.
