It is a great kit for beginners. My girls (ages 7 and 4) really liked it and did surprisingly good at sewing. The only complaint I have, and this is the reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the paint comes off the plastic mesh pretty easily. After holding the mesh for a while you notice that the paint is on your fingers and of course it becomes hard to see where the colors go.
Overall a good kit for the money. After my daughters finished the ponies I ordered the butterfly and the flower from the same manufacturer. They are so excited to do needlepoint again.
My Granddaughter just couldn't wait to try this one out. It got her hooked. I purchased this as a first time try out. She picked up on this quite well. Good for a first timer to see if they liked it. She sure did and now wants to go on to harder ones...
