I wasn't too sure about this set because the size is a bit diminutive (it is smaller than mini-figure scale). Surprise, surprise. In spite of the vehicle's stature, this is a very well designed set. It is part of the Creator line, which means that it is made from mostly general-use bricks and comes with directions for multiple builds. The first design is the helicopter transporter; both the helicopter and the cab of the truck make good use of sloped bricks. The second and third designs are a car carrier and a truck with boat trailer. All of the different designs for this set are well done and have good playability. They remind me of the kinds of things I made when I was young, though these look much better. There are some great building techniques and the bricks are varied and useful. The age-range is 7 to 12, but I know a nearly 6 year old who proudly completed all of the designs on his own. I think the set makes a perfect gift; the price is right and if the recipient doesn't like it, s/he can build something else out of the bricks.

My five year old son loves this set.It's easy enough for him to put together himself, but complicated enough to be interesting.The resulting vehicles are solid and fun to play with.

One of our first Lego sets, I love that one set can be made into so many different things. My son loves to make something, take it apart and then do something else. He is only 5 but the instructions are very clear and easy to understand....I think easier than the instructions for the modular build items. It is a little difficult for him to snap some of the smaller pieces together - wondering if maybe that is why the age range starts at a 6 ot 7? One criticism I have read of the set is that Lego minifigs don't fit into the toys so you can't play with them in the same way you play with some Legos - since we are just building and destroying it hasn't been an issue.We recevied this as a gift with the Dune Hopper and it was a nice pairing because some of the bricks are interchangable. We have lost a few important pieces, which is why I'm scoring a bit lower on the durability....there are a lot of specialty pieces and if you lose to many you might need to replace.

My son loved it!
This was exactly what my 10 year old son wanted! He loved it and has had lots of fun putting it together. He especially loves to play with just the removable helicopter.
